A large scrub fire broke out in the Government Gardens in Rotorua.
Flames were seen coming from the gardens on Tuesday afternoon.
The fire, in the bush area alongside Queens Drive, took hold around 4.30pm, says Rotorua Lakes Council.
Firefighters were soon on the scene and had the blaze under control in less than an hour.
Government Gardens is a popular park which includes geothermal features and historic buildings.
