There has been a serious vehicle collision on State Highway 30 this afternoon.

Emergency services are at the scene of a serious single vehicle crash on State Highway 30, Tikitere, Rotorua.

Police were called around 3.34 pm.

Initial indications state that there are serious injuries.

NZTA advise that SH30 is closed between Tikitere and Rotoma.

Motorists are advised to delay their journey or avoid the area and use an alternative route.

The alternative route advised is State Highway 32 and then State Highway 2 if travelling to Rotorua.

Eastbound traffic: Turn left from SH30 to SH33 towards Paengaroa, turn right onto SH2 toward Awakeri and right onto SH34 toward Te Teko to rejoin SH30.

Westbound traffic: Right onto SH34 at Te Teko, Left on SH2 and left onto SH33 at Paengaroa to rejoin SH30.

Diversions will be in place.
