NZ Transport Agency advises there will be extensive traffic management around Baypark Arena on Thursday, January 2, for Bay Dreams 2020.

Traffic control measures will be in place at Bayfair and Te Maunga roundabouts to ensure safe and managed pedestrian access to and from the event.

About 30,000 people are expected to attend the main event, which starts at 11am and finishes at 10.30pm on January2.

"Some lane closures will be in place on State Highway 2 between Bayfair and Sandhurst Drive prior to 9pm," says the NZTA.

"Motorists are advised to use alternative routes where possible or plan their travel outside these hours to avoid delays."

SH2 ROAD CLOSURE – detours in place

SH2 Maunganui Road will be closed to eastbound traffic between Girven Road and Sandhurst Drive, and to westbound traffic between Sandhurst Drive and Te Maunga roundabout, from 9pm to midnight on January 2.

These closures are to support a safe and managed departure from the event for Bay Dreams attendees.

"Signposted detours will be in place via Girven Road, Maranui Street and Sandhurst Drive," says the NZTA.

SH29A traffic travelling east (towards Papamoa) will need to turn left at Te Maunga roundabout and follow signposted detours via Girven Road, Maranui Street to Sandhurst Drive and onto the Tauranga Eastern Link, or use alternative routes to access SH2 Tauranga Eastern Link via Welcome Bay Road, Hewletts Road and the Tauranga Harbour Bridge.
