8 Scott Ave - The Musical is not your usual theatre experience with audiences actively encouraged to join in singing the well-known sound track using a new app.

When the show returns to the stage this February it will be armed with a mobile phone application (http://bit.ly/8scottavesongbook ) providing words to the songs in the show allowing the audience to sing-a-long with characters on stage.

Offering a hilarious take on Rotorua in 1960s and 1970s, 8 Scott Ave offers an eclectic range of music including ‘Saturday Night At The Movies', ‘Don't Go Breaking My Heart', ‘Fire', ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered' and many other familiar tunes.

Following the world premiere in Rotorua last November, the great music and audience involvement played a huge role in ensuring the success of the sold out season.

'I loved that I knew most of the songs and happily sang along with everyone else,” says an attendee last year.

Jack Grace, creator of 8 Scott Ave, wants audiences to feel part of the evening.

'8 Scott Ave tells the story of a whānau in Owhata, but it really is about Rotorua and all our people. Its full of music and singing , all the party songs we all know , you will find yourself singing along with our amazing cast of exceptional Rotorua performers”, says Mr Grace.

8 Scott Ave follows a day in the life of local Māori ‘bookie' Jimmy Smith alongside his larger than life sisters (the Aunties) and whānau who love to dance, eat, drink and most of all, sing.

Reviews have hailed this production a ''laugh-out-loud, sing-a-long comedy that promises an engaging night out at the theatre” and 'a nostalgic slice of Rotorua life”.
