Three inspirational Bay of Plenty women will headline the Wonder Women event, discussing a topic that is becoming increasingly prevalent in New Zealand.

Wellness expert and author Rachel Grunwell, counsellor Maxine Brayshaw, and Lyon O'Neale Arnold's Shiree Edgar will host an evening centered on wellness and mental health on Tuesday, September 29.

Lyon O'Neale Arnold director Denise Arnold says this Wonder Women event touches on a topic that for some women can be close to home.

'Many of us lead very busy lives and sometimes our own mental wellbeing can slip down the priority list. With this week being Mental Health Awareness Week, this topic is particularly relevant.

'This event aims to provide inspiration, understanding, practical information, and resources for women who may need extra support, or know someone else who needs it.”

With all proceeds going to the I AM HOPE Charity, Denise says the evening is also an opportunity to support the work being done to raise awareness of depression and suicide prevention in New Zealand.

'It is a startling statistic, but with three families losing someone to suicide every two days in New Zealand, it is a fact that we cannot ignore.

'We hope this event will play just a small part in contributing to how society views depression and suicide, which fortunately is an evolving discussion in New Zealand.”

I AM Hope is a youth and community-focused support group run by The Key to Life Charitable Trust, started by Mike King. The group promotes positive attitudinal societal change in New Zealand schools and communities and funding private care and counselling for young people.

Rachel Grunwell will share her toolkit for keeping physically and mentally strong.
