The MetService advise that a weak cold front will be moving northwards over central and northern New Zealand on Monday and Tuesday, bringing showers or rain to the east coast and the north of the North Island.

"It is followed by a ridge of high pressure, with mostly settled weather," says a MetService spokesperson.

"Another weak front is forecast to move east to affect the south of the South Island from Wednesday afternoon to Thursday morning, bringing light or moderate rain or showers.

"There is a minimal risk of broad-scale severe weather for the whole outlook period from Monday to Thursday at this stage."
