Farah Palmer Cup draws to a close for the Volcanix

Today marks the final game for the Volcanix in the Farah Palmer Cup season as they square off against the Wellington Pride at Blake Park.

The Volcanix are coming off an impressive win v Otago Spirit last weekend, where they ran in 6 unanswered tries to win the bout 31-3.

They showed off their exciting brand of rugby, carving up the wide channels of the Otago defence with a mix of teamwork and individual flare.

"We are very pleased with the effort from our side v Otago," says Volcanix Head Coach Rodney Gibbs.

"With everything that's gone on in recent months, we were just thankful to be able to run onto the park and put a great performance on the board."

The fantastic win is a consolation prize to what has been a season of ups and downs for the Volcanix, and Gibbs says that to finish Saturday's final FPC game with another win would be the ideal conclusion to their Farah Palmer 2021 campaign.

"There's no denying how hard these women have worked this year, and some of the personal growth of the players, especially our incumbents, has been a real positive."

"We want to go out with a bang against a good Wellington side on our home turf."

The game is scheduled for a 12.05pm kick-off, today Saturday September 25, and will be broadcast live on Sky Sport 2.

The match will be played under strict COVID-19 level 2 restrictions which means there will no crowds.
