Police have arrested a man who has been charged with murder following the death of a woman in Kawerau on Saturday.
A 20-year-old Kawerau man has been arrested and will be appearing at Whakatane District Court on Monday morning, charged with murder and an unrelated assault.
"Police are unable to name the victim until her extended family have been advised of her death," says Western Bay of Plenty Area Manager Investigations Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Rawlinson.
Emergency services were called to an address on Hall Street, Kawerau around 12.41pm on Saturday where a woman was located with critical injuries and sadly died a short time later.
A scene guard was put in place at the property while Police investigated.
