Rotorua building picks up two major awards

Rotorua has picked up two major architectural awards in the NZIA Waikato Bay of Plenty architectural awards.

The New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute Ngā Kete Tuku Iho won in the education sector with its precinct development designed by Design Tribe Architects was the winner.

The Rotorua Public Library (Te Aka Mauri Children's health and library hub) took the public architecture award section.

It was designed by GHD Woodhead Creative Spaces.

In February, Te Aka Mauri marked its first anniversary.

It was the subject of much controversy when the Rotorua Lakes Council and Lakes DHB combined to create a health hub in the library.
