Rotorua road open after serious crash

Police are investigating a serious crash in Rotorua which has left two people in critical condition.

Emergency services were called to the two-car crash on Pukuatau Street in Rotorua just before 6pm.

A police spokesperson says initial reports suggest three people were injured.

Two people were reported to have sustained critical injuries, while a third is believed to have suffered moderate injuries.

Three fire crews were called to the scene, along with police and St John Paramedics.

The road was closed for several hours as the serious crash unit investigated the scene.

NZTA reports the road was re-opened around 7am.

Anyone with information about the crash, and haven't already spoken with police can contact their nearest police station or the police 105 non-emergency line.
