One person has died following a crash in the Bay of Plenty this morning.
Emergency services were called to the two-vehicle crash on Thornton Road, near Matata, just before 9.30am.
A police spokesperson has confirmed that one person has died at the scene of the crash.
"A second person has been airlifted to Tauranga Hospital in a critical condition.
"The road will remain closed for the next few hours while police continue the scene examination."
