Don’t be fooled by ticket scams - warns police

Jim Beam Homegrown is on March 22 in Wellington.

Summer tends to be a high point for music lovers, with festivals, big-ticket stadium gigs and outdoor concerts throughout the warmer months.

But police would like to remind Homegrown festival goers to be aware of ticket scams.

"The types of scams vary – the tickets could be fake, you might pay cash but never receive a ticket, or the ticket may differ from what you thought you were buying," says a police spokesperson.

"Remember, don't buy goods like tickets from anyone who you are unsure about, never pay money into another account without verifying who the account belongs to, and lastly – if an offer seems too good to be true, it probably is.

"Police have contacted Homegrown organisers, who advise that Tixel is the only official reseller of Homegrown tickets."
