Reduced parking down Long Mile Road

Motorists are being warned of reduced parking down Long Mile Road.

"If you've been down Long Mile Road recently you will have noticed that contractors are in the process of preparing the road for re-sealing," says a post on the Rotorua Lakes Council Facebook page.

"Depending on weather conditions, re-sealing is scheduled to take place this week on either Thursday or Friday. Otherwise it will take place next week."

Re-sealing involves spraying bitumen onto the road (which provides a waterproof barrier), followed by a layer of metal chip to create a hardwearing surface.

"This process will begin in the morning and continue throughout the day. Long Mile Road will still be accessible but traffic management will be in place.

"While re-sealing is underway, all car parking down the side of Long Mile Road will be closed. The small car park at the start of Long Mile Road (Tarawera Road entrance) and the large car park under the Tree Walk at the Visitor Centre will remain open and accessible.

"Contractors are aiming to have the sealing complete by the end of the day and all going well, all car parks should be available again the following day.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this work and appreciate your continued patience throughout the upgrade."
