Finance Minister Grant Robertson is announcing the government's 2021 Budget at 2pm.
It is expected it will deliver more money into the pockets of New Zealand's poorest and those hit hardest by Covid-19, but the government has signalled most of its housing announcements have already been made, with the exception of "significant" funding for Maori housing.
It is also facing big pressures on health and education, with major reforms expected in both.
The government has also been facing calls for further increases to benefits, although Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has ruled that out as recently as December.
