Rotorua crash: Mobility scooter driver dies

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

Police are confirming a fatality following a serious crash in Rotorua.

State Highway 30A was closed around 10.30am after two-vehicle crash in the city.

The road is reported to be open this morning.

"Police can now confirm one person has died following a two-vehicle crash on the intersection of Amohau Street and Tutanekai Street yesterday morning," says a police spokesperson.

"The collision involved a motorbike and mobility scooter.

"Sadly, the driver of the mobility scooter died at the scene.

"Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing."

People with information about the crash are urged to contact their nearest police station.

Alternvatively, information can be left anonymously via the Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 line.

Non-emergency information can be phoned into the police's 105 number.
